Lisa Futterman

Director of Development

Lisa Futterman of River Vale has been the Director of Development for the MS Comprehensive Care Center located at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck for over 5 years.  The MS Center is the only not-for-profit facility licensed in the State of New Jersey exclusively for the comprehensive treatment of multiple sclerosis.  Ms. Futterman has a strong background in sales and fund-raising  and since coming to the Center, she  has injected a fresh and vibrant vitality into the Center’s fund raising activities.  Her efforts have taken the special fund raising events to new heights of success.

The Center’s Annual Spring Fashion Fling event, held each year at the Glenpointe Marriott Hotel in Teaneck has grown to an event attended by close to 1000 guests.  This event has featured the State’s first lady, Dina Matos-McGreevey, nationally known, Oscar nominated actress and MS activist, Teri Garr, TV’s WNBC Channel 4 weatherman Chris Cimino, NJ TV news health correspondent Sara Lee Kessler, as well as the Center’s National Spokesperson, Professional Golfer Brett Massingham.   In addition, under Ms. Futterman’s guidance, the Center’s Annual Fall Golf Charity Outing, most recently held at White Beeches Country Club in Haworth has also attained new levels of achievement.  Through Ms. Futterman’s efforts, the Center was able to attract a nationally known professional golfer to act as the events recurring Chairperson.   Mr. Brett Massingham, who has multiple sclerosis, gained national attention when he qualified for and played in the PGA tour’s Nissan Open 2002, becoming the only person ever with MS to compete in a PGA Tour event.  Mr. Massingham offers outing participants a group golf clinic, he plays in the tournament, and he provides the event with a special quality unmatched for events of this kind. Brett’s involvement with the Golf Outing evolved into his position as National Spokesperson.  Ms. Futterman’s efforts have also resulted in the Center being a beneficiary of two other independently run golf outings on an annual basis.

More recently through Ms. Futterman’s tireless efforts, the Center has successfully drawn the attention of other national sports figures who have begun to support the Center financially .  David Wright, third baseman for the NY Mets and his charitable foundation held a dinner at the NY Stock Exchange for the Center’s benefit in December. 2005.  Mets outfielder Cliff Floyd, former Met Todd Zeile, Florida Marlins Pitcher Dontrelle Willis, St. Louis Cardinal third baseman Scott Rolen, and Olympic Gold Medal Figure Skater Sarah Hughes all attended this gala event and drew considerable attention to the Center’s needs while also supporting it with a significant financial contribution. The David Wright Foundation has solidified its position in support of MS ever since, and continues to contribute to the Center with not only its financial resources, but David Wright’s personal time and interest.

Ms. Futterman’s dedication to the details of her special events work always produces memorable and successful fund raising events for the Center. In May, 2006, the MS Center sponsored its first Statewide Rollover MS Day following a successful inaugural fund raising walk/run/biking event a year earlier in Northvale.   With Ms. Futterman’s leadership and coordination skills, this event took place simultaneously in a number of cities throughout New Jersey.  Entrants ran, walked, biked or roller bladed in 1-, 3- or 5-mile events in the towns of Teaneck, Paramus, Northvale and River Vale and received per mile donation pledges in support of the MS Center from within their communities. This new event has become a regular feature with in the Center’s special event portfolio, and will be repeated in October, 2007.

The MS Center welcomes community support in making services available to all people with MS regardless of their ability to pay.  Ms. Futterman’s efforts are primarily directed towards developing programs to encourage support for the Center through donations, special events, memorials, bequests and grants.
