LISA’S TEAM
One of the
hallmarks of the Gimbel MS Center is its ability to establish strong
and lasting relationships with its patients and their families in a
most uncommon way for a health care facility. This aspect of the
Center’s mission has never wavered, and has most recently manifested
itself in the caring and generous activities of a special group of
people known as Lisa’s Team.
Lisa’s Team is made
up of the family and friends of one of our patients, Lisa Gannon,
and includes Lisa’s sisters, Linda Castellucci and Loren Katsakos
(they are triplets!!) The sisters, along with Katie Gannon, Lisa's
daughter, and Lisa’s Mom have been active supporters of their
sister’s fight against MS, as well as being successful, dedicated
fundraisers for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, including
participating in their yearly walk for the cure. The Team’s efforts
to honor Lisa Gannon’s inner strength have led them to various
fundraising activities in their community. This past Easter, for the
second consecutive year, (Lisa’s very favorite holiday),
Lisa’s Team sought funds for the Gimbel MS Center in her honor.
Lisa’s Mom made the cutest thank you votives to those who donated
$100 or more.
As a result of
Lisa’s Team’s efforts, they presented the Gimbel MS
Center
with a check for $17,000, duplicating last year's effort. These
funds, of course, will be used to assist the Center’s ability to
meet its mission of treating MS patient’s and their families
comprehensively, regardless of their ability to pay. Lisa Futterman,
Director of Development was extremely gratified by the support shown
by this committed and caring family.
“I am truly in awe
of what can be accomplished by one family! Lisa’s Team should all be
very proud of the support they have shown Lisa Gannon and for what
they have done for all of the patient’s served by our Center, ” said
Futterman gratefully.
In response Lisa
Gannon said, “ I am truly thankful for all the work the Center does
for me. Enjoy spending. Everyone there gives hope and
support to MS patients. I am so lucky to have such a great family
and support system. I know that I am truly blessed.” Lisa
especially thanks Dr. Picone for all her support and guidance
through what she calls a “roller coaster disease, never sure of what
is going to happen next.” She tries to enjoy the good days and count
her blessings.
“As Executive
Director, I am delighted to have Lisa’s Team in our corner. I wish
to formally acknowledge the courage of Lisa Gannon and the
extraordinary efforts Lisa’s Team has made for the second straight
year on her behalf and on behalf of all of the Center’s patients and
staff. I am confident that with Lisa’s team on our side, we will one
day find a cure for MS”, said June Halper, the Gimbel MS Center’s
Executive Director.
