A Patients Story….
Some 18 years ago I felt a
mysterious numbness in my right foot. An
MRI confirmed that it was the onset of Multiple Sclerosis. From the
beginning, I have relied on the doctors and the staff at the Gimbel M.S.
Center for state-of-the-art treatment of this debilitating disease and they
have never disappointed. On occasion, I have gone to physicians outside the
Center for second opinions, but I always return to the Center for treatment
because of the vast knowledge not only of the neurologists who practice
there, but also of the entire staff.
The people at the Center are exceptional in many ways. They treat
the person, not just the disease. The physicians do not simply hand you a
prescription and a bill. They ask questions, discuss options and help the
patient make informed decisions. Everyone there is incredibly supportive.
Our family has been active in supporting the Center for years and we regard
everyone there as extended family.
The physicians and the staff at the Center are ahead of the medical
curve. They attend and often present at international symposiums. They
know the treatments of the future and they are constantly studying data on
the success rates of the medications they prescribe. Many private
neurologists are unable to spend as much time on these issues as those who
specialize in diagnosing and treating M.S.
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the Gimbel Center is its
policy of providing treatment to those who need it regardless of the
patient's ability to pay. The Center treats people who have no health
insurance and are unable to pay. This is unheard of in contemporary
America! It is a reflection of the caring philosophy of everyone connected
with this remarkable institution. It is also one reason why the Center
seems to often operate at a deficit.
Please consider a generous gift to this marvelous facility. There
are many worthy causes, but this is one where your dollar goes towards
treating people who have been afflicted by a devastating disease. Unlike so
many national charities with expensive headquarters and costly advertising
campaigns, the Gimbel MS Center directs your contribution to where it's
needed most: helping people in our community. Thank you for your
contribution to this worthy cause.
Sincerely,
Cathy Chester
